Experience & Philosophy

My practice is limited to representing individuals accused of criminal and traffic offenses. I have over twenty-five years’ experience in the criminal justice system throughout Northern Virginia. I am a former Prince William prosecutor and former Substitute Judge sitting in the District courts of Northern Virginia. I have frequently been appointed a Special Prosecutor in Prince William County and have taught continuing education to lawyers throughout the state. I am also currently an instructor at the Prince William County Police Academy.

Communication

For a client facing a criminal prosecution for the first time, the strongest feeling is often fear: fear of job loss, fear of harm to reputation, fear of going to jail. As your attorney, one of my most important jobs is to reduce those fears as best as I can. The best way to start allaying those fears is through clear communication at the initial consultation. Initial consultations are up to one hour long and are free of charge. We discuss the facts and the law of your case, set goals, and I tell you what my representation will cost – you can then decide if you want to hire me. (I almost always charge a flat fee, so you know upfront, exactly what you will be paying.) I also answer all of your questions.

If you retain me to be your lawyer, you get me; not an associate, not a paralegal, not an answering service. Clients communicate with me by texting or calling my cell phone at any time and I always respond promptly.
